Places to
visit in the Vendee is extremely varied and range from the glorious beaches of
which the vendee is blessed, many of which regularly obtain the blue flag for
cleanlyness.
There are a large number of chateaux, churches and other
buildings and sites of interest.
The vendee also has a variety of natural
sites from the Green Venice to the Mervent forest, from the salt marshes to
medieval sites.
That great day out could take in one of the spectacular event
such as the Puy de Fou, or Richard the Lion Hearts castle at Talmont St Hilaire.
The list is almost endless.

attraction.
Mervent Forest. Just 12km north of Fontenay le comte this
forest is the largest in the vendee and has lakes for boating plus great walking
trails. Within the forest is a small Zoo an adventure park and many great
restaurants.
Vouvant This most attractive village in the southeast corner of the Vendee
is classified as one of the prettiest villages in France. The medieval ramparts
overlook the lakes and there are many pleasant walk around the village. It
attracts painters from around the world.
Fontenay Le Comte Listed as one of the "beau detours de France" this attractive town
has its roots in the medieval past and was a river crossing town in Roman
times, a walk around the old centre with its timber houses, quiet courtyards and
beautiful architecture will be most rewarding,or you may like to take in the
atmosphere in one of the many roadside cafes and bars.
